What is life? What is the true meaning of life?
Different people define life differently. It depends on how minds and hearts perceive it. Fundamentally, life can be perceived as the existence of a living thing, the period between birth and death and even the ability to reproduce and to grow.
Every living thing faces different life experiences in the journey of life. Life and death are not to be mourned but to be honoured, cherished, appreciated and celebrated.
A Tribute to Life is a photojournalism exhibition organised by Galeri Prima for us to do just that. The photographs on display are from NSTP huge archive. Some of these photographs are exclusive and have not been shown to the public before. These images, a compilation of published and unpublished photos by our award-winning photojournalists, have been carefully selected to give visitors a glimpse into the value and quality of life.
Some of these photographs candidly captured real life moments. The emotions are often raw, giving visitors the sense of being a part of the moment.
The photographs were selected not based on the composition, technical details or the subject matter but based on the story that each photographer wanted to tell.
As American photographer and educator Aaron Siskind once said, Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever… It remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.
Every photograph tells a story and evokes untold feelings. We believe these photographs will remind us to value and appreciate life.
In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years. – Abraham Lincoln.
