It was not an easy task to get all 88 of them together“ the young and emerging and those who have already established themselves in the arts community – but we managed to do it. Their works are placed side by side throughout the gallery.

For this is the beauty of Malaysia; they are a manifestation of one of Malaysia and Malaysians unique characteristics, namely unity. In reality, we are not only celebrating 61 years of Independence. We are also celebrating 61 years of unity among the people of Malaysia.

We would like to think that this is an exemplary exhibition to set the tone of this year’s National Day celebrations under the theme Sayangi Malaysiaku.

The anchor piece of the exhibition, Dirgahayu Negaraku – Susah Payahnya Membina Negara by Ismadi Salehuddin, depicts how exacting it is to build this country.
