Allah SWT is beautiful and loves beauty. This can be seen in His every creation, something that we humans cannot challenge and match.
However, Allah SWT endowed humans with various talents to produce creative works either in physical form or visually.
A creative individual would use this “gift” to produce something beautiful to look at. Islam through its main source, the Al-Quran, values art. The Quran guides humans to know Allah SWT and invites them to see that the entire universe is created in harmony and beauty.
This is the proof of God’s greatness that we should feel and enjoy. And Islamic art is the art of depicting forms with beautiful language and in accordance with human nature. Visual beauty is something that is subjective and different according to each individual because everyone has different tastes and interests. While human usually appreciate something of beauty on the outside, true beauty is not only something that is beautiful in appearance but beautiful in meaning and purpose.
It is based on these values that Galeri Prima hosted a contemporary Islamic art exhibition called INSYIRAH from 13 – 28 May 2024. The exhibition features meticulously selected works of established and emerging Malaysian artists namely senior masters, eminent contemporary artists, and young rising stars.
INSYIRAH showcases masterpieces by Dr. Nor Azlin Hamidon, Haji Zulkifli Yusoff, Ahmad Rajaei Awang, Ainun Jariah Yaacob and Firdaus Ibrahim.
Forteen works on display feature works loaded with various messages towards goodness and positivity. These artists have his or her own style in conveying spiritual precepts.
Islamic calligraphy was used to interpret the Islamic values and convey the hidden message to the audience.
These amazing works of contemporary Islamic art can be viewed at Galeri Prima, Balai Berita, 31 Jalan Riong, 59100 Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur from 13- 28 May 2024 and is open on weekdays from 10am – 6pm.
